Label Printer printing cut labels

We have a label printer EasyCoder PD42 300 dpi on a Windows 2008 R2 Enterprise SP1 connected to SAP for shipping labels sized 4 in * 6 in. When the labels are being printed there is a gap of about 2 inch and then label starts. The bottom 2 inches are cut. I checked the generated SPL file and the spool file that is generated only shows 4 in * 4 in with the bottom 2 inch being cut from the bottom. There is no gap on it. 

I tried every setting and margin but it doesn't seem to have any effect. The label size on the server is correctly set to 4 in * 6 in. 

However, when I changed the driver to 203 dpi, complete label was printed (albeit in small size fitting within 4 in * 4 in). This seems to point that the driver is generating incorrect spooler. Is there any other way to confirm this ?


Print server, all printers disappeared

I had a user call me to say that all the printers are showing offline. I remoted into the Server 2012 Essentials server and when I opened print management and looked under Print Servers > Server Name > Printers, it was empty however the printers were still listed under "deployed printers". 

Then I went to devices and printers and I was able to see all of them there but they were all offline. A server reboot brought everything back to normal but this has happened before a few times. I came across this post that seemed like it had the answer as that was 100% our problem but when I checked our server, we did not have KB2995388 installed on our server.

What was the Windows 7 Update problem that had went around a while back?  I am not sure if it is on my computer.  I had my Windows 10 shared through my company & they have messed my personal computer all up.  I am legally still an employee, but they have done something to our link so my home computer has reverted back to Windows 7 and I can't get any updates to work so I can't get anything done that I need to, for work issues and they will not help me because they do not want to link to me anymore.  They have made my computer a mess!  So I don't know how I can get my computer to work correctly.  And I want to make sure I do not download the wrong Windows 7 software Update.

Secure Print on Windows Server 2016

Hi,

We have a Canon 256i installed on a windows server 2016 and use Secure Print function. It doesn't work when we try to print from Microsoft Edge or Windows Application such as Photo etc. it does not print on Secure Print and blocks all the jobs. If we take off the secrure print off from the print job before we print the photo or something, it prints ok. 

All clients are on Windows 10 Pro.

I installed the same printer on windows server 2008R2 and the secure print works ok on any application. I am not sure how to make it work on Server 2016. I have tried few solutions but nothing has solved this issue.

Print Management > Driver > Isolation > the setting mode is changed from default"Shared" to "None".

Step 2: In the Driver Properties > Sharing > De-select "Render print jobs on client computers" and then select it again, Apply and close.

Step3: The best way to disable Server Side Rendering on Laptop based machines is through the policy.  Laptops will always override the setting on the print server. 

I have tried PS3, PCL6 UFR drivers and nothing has solved the problem.

The other thing I don't understand as why it works on Server 2008R2 and not on Server 2016.

Canon support could not help me and told me to check the server. 

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? The printer is ok and work ok on server 2008.

Hi, 

I am currently working on deploying printers via group policy. I added the printers to the print server and shared them. Then I created the GPO and deployed it. Once the policy applied to a user they saw the printer added and are successfully able to print to it as expected.

However, after a few hours I go to the print server and notice that the printer that I just created is gone from the list of printers and the driver for it is also gone, but the port used is still there. When I go on the client computer, the printer still shows up, but I can't access the printer by share name and therefore also can't print to it anymore since it doesn't exist on the print server anymore. Last day I added a bunch of printers to the print server and the same behavior happened to all printers. After a few hours they were all gone, and when I re-added them they disappeared after a few hours as well. However the printers that I added one day earlier the exact same way, are still visible on the print server and they are working perfectly fine. 

We are running Windows Server 2008 R2 and this behavior happened on multiple servers. If anyone knows a solution it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Printing Preferences Favorites Field - Windows 2016 Print Server

Sharp Multi function printer shared and published in AD on Windows 2016 Server

On the print server, I right click on the printer and from the drop down I select Set Printing Defaults. 
Here on the main tab under Favorites I have created two profiles BlackandWhite and Color and saved.

Now from my workstation Windows 10 when I attempt to print a color document, I click print, select my printer, click properties under favorites filed I don't see the 2 profiles I created.  Instead I see is Untitled and Factory Defaults.

Is this even supported why the 2 profiles not showing?

Print server upgrade - printers missing/grayed out

We've been upgrading our physical 2008R2 print/file server to VMs 2016 machines. Upgrades go as follows...we install current printers ahead of time, create shares and apply security etc etc. On night of cutover we remove existing server from network,delete DNS entry and join the newly namely named (keeping old DNS name) to domain. So new 2016 virtual server has same DNS name, same printers, same shares just different IP.

The next morning when users log in some of their mapped printers are grayed or are missing. Its very random at best but before we proceed to a larger upgrade we need to figure why this is happening...anybody experience this? We've rebooted the server a few times which sees to help, also removing and re-adding the printers helps but that what the logon scripts are for!

 I need to set up the Windows Fax and Scan feature with an older AIO printer/fax. I cannot locate the Network Name and address for the Fax Server. I am the owner and administrator of the AIO, computer and network. I just am not savvy enough to know this information to complete the setup.

We are using printing software from Nicelabel.com and also Nicelabel print drives to different printers.
We use Printui.exe to backup settings from printers
printui.exe /Ss /n <printername> /a <printerfile>

Restore with these parameters

Print Server Hangs

For the last 2 months I have been manually rebooting Windows Server 2019 Standard about every 10 days.  This is an effort to resume printing for my customer.  There is nothing that jumps out in the logs and says, "Hey, I'm the problem"  At first, I thought it was something unique to the environment/server.  However, I deployed a second server 2019 standard at a separate office and the same issue is present there as well.  My customer did not buy SA and I am at my wits end with this issue.  Rebooting every 10 days is not a viable option and the issue very much appears to be with Server 2019 and not my configuration.  Any help is appreciated!

Printbrm.exe event ID 46

Hello together,

I have a problem, using the Printbrm.exe, for migrating 300 printers from a print server with the system "Windows Server 2008 R2", to a new print server with the system "Windows Server 2019".

To export the list with the important data, I used the command "printbrm –B –S Servername –f C:\file –nobin" on the server, that runs the system “Windows Server 2019”. 

Yesterday, this worked perfectly.

But unfortunately, I realized, after exporting the list, that I have to delete some printers and update one driver, before I can migrate everything on the new server. 

Today I wanted to export the file once again, because of the changes. 

The export seems to run normal, until the last port was saved.

After that, an error occurred. 

I am really sorry, but I don't have the error code at the moment. 

There is one thread, answered from “Alan Morris” to the error code, but I cannot find it right now.

I just have the event ID "46" and the text of the error, that said "Printbrm.exe (the Printer Migration Wizard or the command-line tool) failed to place a file in cabinet (CAB) file C:\file while backing up print queues. Error reported: -----. This can occur if the user does not have permission to create a file in the destination location, or if there is insufficient disk space or system resources.”

I couldn’t find a solution, so I tested the export with a second print server, that also runs on the system “Windows Server 2019”.

The same error occurred.

I also changed the destination server to another print server with the system “Windows Server 2008 R2".

After I have done that, the export runs without any problem.

That means, that the problem has to be on that one old print server with the “Windows Server 2008 R2”-system.

To test this, I tried to export the data directly on this source server.

This should also be possible, as long, as I don’t import them.

To export the data, I entered the same command as the one above.

But then another error, with the code “0x80004005” occurred. 

I don’t know how I should go on.

Maybe somebody can help me to fix the problem.

Users' printers randomly keep disappearing, printers manged with Print Management

We have a print server that is running the Print Management utility built into Windows Server 2012 R2. Many users keep calling to report thatsome (not all) of their printers keep disappearing. Running gpupdate /force usually brings all the printers back but that's not a worthwhile fix since we have to keep doing it.

I have all company the printers deployed to me and even when I run gpupdate /force, some missing printers will appear. Why aren't they all showing up in the first place?

This mostly happens on our RDS servers (running Server 2012 R2), but it does occasionally happen on our local computers (all running Windows 10 Pro 1809 and 1903) as well. All computers are running with the latest updates and all print drivers are up to date.

Does anyone know what's causing this and how we can fix it?

We are in the process of upgrading our Windows 2008 print servers to W2016. Has anyone been through this process before. Is it just a case of creating a new W2016 server and copying over the print queues?

We have a print driver which has this problem since upgrading to windows 10 

It only happens for some documents. The driver is written in C++

This is how the error looks

I have procmon log of working file and non working file. Would this help and what am I looking for?

Do I also need Windbg to troubleshoot. What is the process that I should attach to? Is it splwow64.exe or acroRd32.exe since the print action happens from adobe reader.

printer migration

Hi, I have a project in my bucket where the client has an existing AD1/print server where Print management role has been installed. It's working perfectly fine but they thought of adding another print server as a backup since they have another AD2. 

So my procedure is to right click on print management and select 'Migrate printers', this will create a file which I acn import to the new AD2 server

My question is, when you say 'migrate' does it take out of AD1 and totally all users connects to AD2? or when you say 'migrate' is to just copy exactly as what AD1 has and import it to AD2?

Windows 2012 R2 Internet Printing - Missing connect button ?

Hey, I know this has been an issue for alot of people and I have seen alot of questions about this. I have tried almost everything that people refere to, to fix this BUT the connect button still wont show up for me :/

Anyone got any clues as to what to do ?

Printers randomly dont get mapped via GPO

Hello there...

I've been searching multiple forums for a solution, but I can't find one. We have a few 2012 R2 Terminal Servers + a 2012 R2 Printserver and map all of our printers via GPP.

It often happens that printers are not mapped. The eventlog of the TS shows the foloowing entries:

Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x8007000a The environment is incorrect.

Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070bc4 No printers were found.' This error was suppressed

What is absolutely incomprehensible to me is the fact that, when I send a gpupdate /force on the user-session, the printer gets mapped immediately. This is the same step that is done during the user's logon, isn't it?

I've set the GPO to wait for the network. (Administrative Templates -> System ->LogonAlways Wait for the Network at Computer Startup and Logon

I'm running out of ideas.. it isn't realated to a specific printer model.It happens to all vendors..

Any ideas? :( Thanks!
